Issue #5 WINE COUNTRY INTERNATIONAL© MAGAZINE CHILE RISING! Chile's winemaking legacy began over 500 years ago. Today
their valleys are blessed with some of the finest grape growing terroir
in the world. Chilean winemakers have gained a reputation for producing
world-class premium wines. The Chilean wine industry has grown rapidly
during the last two decades as major investments and joint ventures with international wineries have been made. Modern technology has been employed and highly talented young winemakers have taken the helm along with well-respected traditional winemakers. The spectrum of grape varieties now produced includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and others. But, Chile's "wild card" is Carmenere, a grand old red Bordeaux wine grape that grows beautifully in Chile's dry, desert-like vineyards. Issue #4 WINE COUNTRY INTERNATIONAL© MAGAZINE
Move Over Starbucks: Washington's Wine Industry Starts Percolating Something's brewing in Washington-and it isn't the latest Starbucks clone, but a burgeoning wine industry that compares favorably in terms of both quality and price to anything throughout the world. Though still in its infancy, Washington is already the second largest wine producer in the U.S. There are now 260 wineries-up nearly 100 in just three years, as vineyards supplant grain fields, onion patches, even (gasp!) apple orchards. WCI tours Washington and discovers why Syrah, Merlot, Riesling and their friends have become the apple of farmers' eyes.Issue #3
Portugal's Wine Renaissance beyond Port
Several things, as it turns out. First, the country was under a fascist dictatorship for 40 years and they had very little interest in export. Of course, you don't need to export much when you have oil-and mineral-rich African colonies sending you enormous sums of money. When the dictatorship was overthrown, things were a little chaotic and it took over a decade for Portugal to gain admittance to the European Union. The entry into the EU brought Portugal into trade relationships with its neighbors, but it also brought new rules for winemaking. Read the whole story, plus more in the Summer 2004 Issue! FEATURES:

Wine Country International© Magazine targets wine enthusiasts committed to exploring wine regions in the US and abroad. Our niche readership is new wine drinkers who enjoy tasting wine, expanding their gastronomic horizons, and learning the individual characteristics & philosophies of each winery they visit. We plan to develop a dynamic reader base of active new enthusiasts by distributing our publication prominently at vendor wineries and "wine country" area restaurants, accommodations and tour operators. Our club members receive a complimentary copy as well as a monthly e-newsletter supplementing the extended website editorial coverage. Editorial & Design Concept Wine Country International Magazine's slogan is "your attitude-free passport to great wines and delicious food." Attitude-free means we believe there's no place for wine snobbery. Passport suggests unobstructed travel. Part of our credo is that great wines can be affordable and that pairing food with wine is the ideal way to enjoy any meal---indeed, life itself---to the fullest. Wine Country International Magazine is dedicated to increasing the knowledge and enjoyment of wine, food and travel---not just to the world's great wine regions, but to destinations whose restaurants and festivals celebrate the grape. Though the publication is aimed at enthusiasts, our editorial contributors (wine experts, travel-photojournalists, culinary professionals, and celebrity chef-restaurateurs) blend fresh content with inside, cutting-edge information---in everyday language.
